Gisele Bundchen – Big Sexy Money

Gisele Bundchen - Big Sexy Money

Gisele Bundchen is the highest-earning model in the world. The Brazilian beauty has topped the list compiled by Forbes.com for the third year running after making an impressive $25 million from June 2008 to June 2009. Despite raking in a fortune, Gisele – who married American football star Tom Brady in February – has been hit by the global economic crisis, making $10 million less than in the previous financial year. But the 28-year-old catwalk queen still has lucrative campaigns with Versace and Dior. She also has her own successful shoe line. Heidi Klum finished in second place with $16 million, earning $2 million more than the previous financial year.

2. Heidi Klum – $16 Million
3. Adriana Lima – $8 Million
4. Doutzen Kroes – $6 Million
5. Alessandra Ambrosio – $6 Million
6. Natalia Vodianova – $5.5 Million
7. Daria Werbowy – $4.5 Million
8. Miranda Kerr – $3 Million
9. Carolyn Murphy – $3 Million
10. Emanuela De Paula – $2.5 Million

Megan Fox as Lara Croft?

Megan Fox as Lara Croft?

Could Megan Fox replace Angelina Jolie as the star of the Tomb Raider franchise? Terminator Salvation executive producer Dan Lin dropped a bombshell to about.com at the premiere of the new Christian Bale film, saying that he’s planning to reboot Lara Croft as an origin story. The two previous Tomb Raider films grossed more than $431 million combined, worldwide. This reboot would inevitably mean casting someone younger than Jolie, and that has lead to rampant fanboy speculation (read: panting, drooling) that Transformers beauty Fox, 23, might be at the top of the list to take on the role. Right now, though, it’s merely that: speculation. Lin tells EW.com that the script hasn’t been written — they’re just beginning the search for a writer — so casting discussions are, at least, months in the future. That said, Lin did add that it would be a “no brainer” to consider Fox for the role. For now, though, fanboys will just have to wait … and dream.

Donatella Versace’s Fashion Secrets

Donatella Versace's Fashion Secrets

Donatella Versace has opened up about her love of fashion from a very young age.

The iconic designer chatted to pal, Lenny Kravitz for this month’s Interview magazine feature, revealing all about hers and brother Gianni’s childhood.

“When I was about 10 or 11, Gianni started to play with me being his model. He’d try clothes on me and ask, ‘What do you think?’ He was pushing me to do my hair lighter-to bleach it.

“So I was a fashion addict by the time I was 11 years old. I’d wear a miniskirt and patent-leather boots.”

Despite rumours of Donatella living in her brother’s shadow while he was alive, it can’t be denied that they had a powerful impact and influence on the fashion world.

And you would expect Donatella to try and replicate that with collections today, however she’s firm in not revisiting the past and re showing trends which Versace first made famous.

The most obvious trend to liken this to would be the massive 1980s influx currently hitting the high-street at the moment. “I knew that that trend was coming,” she revealed to Interview.

“I knew exactly when every designer was going to start doing it. And I couldn’t, because I was with Gianni doing the ’80s, in the ’80s. I have so many pieces in the archives that I could put right out on the runway and they’d be perfect.

Billy Talent III

Billy Talent III

Billy Talent are finally returning to the music scene with their foxy new album Billy Talent III, released on July 13. As they prepare to take on the UK festival circuit and unleash their hot new single, I caught up with the guys to see how the past few years have been treating them.

Hello there pretties, what’s going on? It’s been a while since we’ve heard from you!
Yeah, we’ve been busy, busy busy, spending time with our families and writing our new record.

You’re planning to tour the US with Rise Against and Rancid this summer, how excited are you for that?
Yeah, that’s going to be all July, it’s going to be fun, we’ve done a lot of shows with Rise Against in the past so it’s just like going back and hanging with family. Im going to try and get Tim Armstrong to reunite Operation Ivy. It’ll never happen, but I’ll try.
You’re also coming to the UK for a couple of the festivals, which are you most looking forward to?
Both! Download main stage is going to be a great experience for us and doing Reading and Leeds with Alexisonfire and Anti Flag on before us, when we’ve toured extensively with them before, should be a lot of fun!

I’m excited to see you at Download, eeek! It’s my first time! But anyway, your new single Rusted From The Rain has just come out, to anyone who hasn’t heard it yet, how would you describe it?

It’s a rock song! It’s a mid-tempo song and it’s got one of the greatest guitar solos ever!

Better than one by someone like Slash?
Hum, it’s up there.

Even more exciting, you’ve got a new album, Billy Talent III, which is due for release in July, can you sum it up for us in just five words?
Very, very, very, very good.

I like it, that works! So was there any process you went through when writing the album?
Ian. I was really inspired by him. It all starts with a guitar riff, and he creates some riffs and then John and I sit together endlessly making it as good as it can be and then when that’s as good as it can be we start to get the lyrics and the melodies going and we start to play them live together and then we change them again. The amount of work that Ian did was very inspiring to me.

Would you say it takes Billy Talent in a new direction?
Definitely.

Do you think your old fans will love it and you’ll bag yourself loads of new fans and you’ll create a Billy Talent worship-land?
That’s the plan… how did you know? Haha, no, we really pushed the envelope on this and worked our asses off and tried some new stuff. Going into it we didn’t really know what we should do and during the mixing process we did some things to the songs that worked so well and it just makes it so much more beautiful.

If you were going to give us just one song of yours from your entire back catalogue to listen to so that you would become our new favourite band what would it be?
Diamond On A Landmine – it’s one from the new record! I think it’s one of the greatest song’s we’ve ever written.

You’re bound to say that because it’s your new album! So, if you could cover another band’s song, what would it be?
I’d like to cover a Rage Against The Machine song, I think we could pull that off pretty well. When we first started playing I think we have about 4 RATM songs in our set list because it was one of the few we could all agree on! So it would be fun to do one of those again!

So, as it’s the festival season now, what three bands would you have to headline your dream festival?
I think it would have to be Operation Ivy on first, Sublime up second, Rage Against The Machine as support and The Clash headling!

What has been your favourite musical memory to date?
There are way too many, I guess Rock AM ring would be amazing. The whole story behind what happened during that day was pretty immense. We were just starting a six week festival tour and we showed up in Germany and they told us there were 90,000 people going, which I thought would mean 45,000 one day and 45,000 the next!
We walked in and we had technical difficulties, we had a crew switch and one of the guys was just starting a new monitor job and we walked out in front of 90,000 people and all the problems we were having just went away because everyone was so into what we were doing and we were so blown away by it. That’s definitely a great memory.

If all of the bands equipment was on fire, what one piece would you save and why?
Ian’s guitar.

Who do you think is the greatest artist around at the moment?
Alanis Morrisette. Haha, I’m just kidding. I’d actually say London Calling by The Clash.

We ask everyone we interview to come up with a question for the next person we interview, and The Urgency want to know if they can go on tour with you?
Um, I would have to hear and see them live first [FF: They were good, they were like a rock Bob Marley!] well what they did was good because now I’m going to check out what The Urgency sound like, so maybe they can!

Also, The Blackout wants to know how Ian get’s his hair so perfect?
He sleeps upside down!
No he doesn’t! you can’t sleep upside down.
He’s a bat.

No, because all the blood would rush to his head and it will make him look funny. But can you come up with a question for the next person we interview please?
When was the last time you cried? Hopefully she’ll give you a honest answer.

TCHAD magazine spring issue

“Happiness is that state of consciousness which proceeds from the achievement of one’s values.” Ayn Ran

Spring 2009 represents possibility and opportunity like no year we’ve seen in a very long time. The past year has been dominated by the enduring economic turndown being experienced in every corner of the world; and so much doom and gloom can really cloud a person’s perspective. It’s in times like these that many people turn inward. It’s more difficult to ignore the glorious collective f**k up we’ve become when not distracted by insatiable consumption that caused the mess to begin with…

BUT this is not an accusation, a guilt trip or a sentence; rather, it is an homage to YOU. A celebration of the YOU that you have always meant to become; the YOU that is in no way contingent upon what phone you use, what boots you wear, or what music you listen to. Who YOU are is shaped by all the decisions you make that add up to a path which leads to an outcome that you have actively (if not consciously) pursued. Let me put it another way: First, we determine What we want to do; second, we figure out How to do it. And it’s the How that defines us. Think about it: Is losing 15 pounds as important as the way in which they’re lost? You could get an elastic band implanted in your gut and risk infertility; you could start/continue smoking and leave a young, skinny corpse or you could go all Participaction on that ass and get healthy. Which of those reflects the person you want to be? You must craft yourself as you would any other meaningful project. You don’t leave raising your kids, designing your loft or writing an opening argument to the capricious moods of others, so allow your reputation and influence the same respect. We are living through the benefit of a great lesson. We have been given the gift of hindsight and the knowledge that we are not too far down the path to turn it around. We see the forest and the trees; the sum and the parts.

As I study this issue’s contributors I see a thread of self-assurance and a celebration of those who value action as a reflection of who they are and what they stand for. Michael King–successful, rebellious, an entrepreneur—turned a faded and peeling social tradition into a sparkling success. Increasingly, young artists, like Scarlett Johansson and Melissa McClelland eschew the standard starlet bulls**t, promoting themselves along with the causes, people and places that matter to them. That is what defines us all: the way we choose to spend our time and the people with whom we spend it; our actions; our words; our hobbies, our mistakes and our passions. We’ve all met someone who collects buttons or tiny spoons or one of the other billion random things that pile up around us, and thought how cool it was to get such an honest glimpse of another person’s character. That is the good stuff! That is the stuff that makes you unique, freaky and spectacular!
