Fashion hits and misses

Fashion hits and misses

We’ve now had a few days to recover from the madness that was Glastonbury and can finally deliver our verdict on the festival’s celebrity fashion hits and misses.

As always, there were a few eyebrow-raising moments as some stars missed the fashion boat, but overall the coolest ladies in showbiz were backstage at Glasto ’09 to show us how to dress to impress.

So who hit the fashion high notes, and whose style was way out of tune? Let’s start with Lily Allen…

Lily Allen

Where? Looking slightly dishevelled backstage at Glastonbury.
Wearing: A shapeless pink top with Aztec motifs, white plimsolls and dark sunglasses.
Our verdict: Lily is one of those people who can look utterly flawless or absolutely hideous by turns. On this occasion, the songstress falls into the latter category. Did she just fall out of bed or something? What’s her excuse for pairing a nightie with plimsolls and that platinum blonde wig? Far from being classy, this outfit screams “I got dressed in the dark”. Remove those glasses and see the shining light of style.
Hit or miss? Miss – Lily’s a blurry, bleary fashion mishap.

Caroline Flack

Where? Playing in the fields at Glastonbury, Somerset.
Wearing: A casual floral T-shirt, light denim shorts, brown slouchy satchel, wellies, Ray-Ban sunnies and a great tan.
Our verdict: The ex-Gladiators star looks hot, flirty and happy in this flowery tee, skimpy denim shorts and wellies. The T-shirt is bang on-trend and we love that slouchy bag that’s just about big enough to fit in all the festival essentials. Simple yet sexy, Caroline shows off the fabulous pins that got her noticed by Maxim magazine. And we’ll be seeing a lot more of her (but not in that sense): she’s just about to start a stint as the co-host on BBC TV programme Something For The Weekend. No wonder she’s smiling.
Hit or miss? Hit – Caroline’s showing a whole lot of leg and we like it.

Jodie Harsh

Where? Trampling through the mud at Glastonbury.
Wearing: A Bet Lynch-inspired outfit – ‘80s top, big hair, waist-cinching belt and shorts (yuck).
Our verdict: We get it, Jodie, we honestly do, but even you can’t get away with this garish ensemble. Just how long did it take her to do her hair, make-up and put together her ridiculous “I love the ‘80s” outfit? Jodie is the queen of high maintenance and hardly a festival natural. It doesn’t matter if her wellies are Marc Jacobs and her denim shorts are Levi’s – nothing can disguise the fact that her legs resemble a footballer’s rather than those of a luscious model. We don’t mean to be Harsh, but stick to the heels.
Hit or miss? Miss – Jodie’s more slapstick than stylish at Glastonbury.
