Brad Pitt linked to ‘Holmes’ sequel
Brad Pitt is reportedly set to join the sequel to Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes.
Stars Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law have already confirmed that they will appear in the follow-up to the film, with Pitt said to have signed on to play Holmes’s greatest nemesis Professor Moriarty, according to Popeater.
“The director, Guy Ritchie, loves Brad,” an industry source said.
The source added: “He has worked with him before and thinks he is one of the most underrated actors working today. Guy knows that everyone thinks of Pitt as a pretty boy and can’t wait to turn him into the world’s greatest supervillain. It will definitely make the sequel a must-see.”
Pitt appeared in Ritchie’s 2000 film Snatch as Mickey the Irish traveller.
Claims that Pitt held talks with Warner Bros about playing Moriarty in the Sherlock Holmes sequel previously surfaced in September
Amy Adams Resolves No Resolutions
Amy Adams refuses to make New Year’s resolutions.
The ‘Doubt’ actress – who is expecting her first child with fiance Darren Le Gallo – says she won’t make any promises to herself when she welcomes in 2010.
She said: “I really haven’t set any. I think what I came up with was to have no regrets because usually I set a resolution and I don’t really follow through and then I have regrets. So this year, maybe no resolution. That’s my resolution – to roll with it. I think this will be my year of just rolling with it.”
Amy also admitted she is slightly nervous about becoming a first-time mother but is looking forward to meeting her new addition.
She said: “I feel great. I’m feeling really good. Excited, nervous – but mostly excited.”
She has previously said she is “too impatient” to wait for her baby to be born before finding out whether she’s having a boy or a girl.
She said: “I’m too impatient to wait for a surprise. We’ll probably find out. I thought about waiting and I just don’t think that’s really my personality. It’s not about planning a nursery, it’s more about I just want to know. I want to be able to relate in that way. That’s what works for me, but I totally believe in whatever works for the individual.”
Kate Moss’ Holiday Woe
Kate Moss was forced to delay her holiday because she got so drunk.
The supermodel – who was due to welcome in the New Year in Thailand – had to postpone the trip because she overindulged in food and champagne celebrating Christmas with boyfriend Jamie Hince and her daughter Lila Grace, seven.
A source said: “Kate goes away every New Year and booked this year’s trip over four months ago. Unfortunately she rather overindulged during the festive period, stuffing herself with turkey and all the trimmings, alcohol and Christmas pudding.
“After drinking champagne from 10am onwards, she felt really ill all afternoon. Jamie told Kate in no uncertain terms that she would not be flying anywhere.”
Kate was unable to get a refund on the four first class flights she had paid for, as well as two nights unused accommodation, but was reportedly planning to fly out to Thailand last night, three days later than planned.
The source added: “Kate was devastated and only cheered up when Jamie promised they’d still go away.
“Annoyingly, she can’t get a refund, so after paying for more flights for her family, she has been joking she has a $20, 000 hangover. All things considered she has taken it really well.”
Rachel Weisz’s Shoe Love
Rachel Weisz can create a character by seeing their shoes.
The ‘Lovely Bones’ actress, who began her career on UK TV show ‘Inspector Morse’, said she considers shoes important in character building.
She claimed: “For me, it is often the shoes that pin the person down. From there I can create a whole character.
“Clothes play a huge part in getting into character. I like dressing up. It is part of make-believe and a part of my job.”
Rachel also admitted that her beauty regime is important.
She said: “After hair and make-up and clothes, I feel transformed.”
Recently, 39-year-old Rachel claimed she felt a lot sexier since she had a child three years ago with her director fiancee Darren Aronofsky.
She added: “It makes you feel a lot more confident and appreciative of your body and what it’s capable of doing. I’ve got a lot more respect for it.”
Billie Joe Armstrong’resolves to quit drugs’
The Green Day frontman admitted in a recent interview that he now feels too old to deal with the degenerative effects of illegal narcotics.
The 37-year-old told Bang Showbiz: “What will I never do again? Methamphetamine. I’d rather be huffing gas than sticking speed up my nose.
“I can’t do acid anymore either. I would end up naked on top of the building, sucking my thumb and trying to find a happy place if I was ever to drop acid again.”
Armstrong went on to say that he is not concerned about getting older and is actually looking forward to turning 40 in several years time.
He added: “I don’t mind getting older. I wouldn’t trade my future with anybody else’s.”
Tyra Banks bringing end to TV talk show
(Reuters) – Former supermodel Tyra Banks said on Monday she is ending her Emmy-award winning TV daytime talk show in the spring of 2010.
Banks, 36, said in a posting on her official web site that the current fifth season of “The Tyra Show” on the CW network, would be the last.
“This will be the last season of ‘The Tyra Show’,” Banks said. “I have been loving having fun, coming into your living rooms, bedrooms, hair salons for the past 5 years.”
“My next huge steps will allow me to reach more women and young girls to help us all feel as fierce as we truly are,” she added.
Banks said she would soon be launching her own New York-based production company Bankable Studios and was excited at the prospect of making movies but could not yet give details.
She will however host the 15th season of “America’s Next Top Model” reality show contest on the CW in February.
Banks has used her talk show to promote women’s issues, particularly body image and the media’s perception of how women should look.
In August she posed with a group of women in underwear in New York’s Union Square to promote the show’s campaign of “rocking what you’ve got”. In September she took the weave out of her hair and appeared on the show with her natural hair.
The syndicated “The Tyra Banks Show” won a second daytime Emmy award in August for best informative talk show.
In her web posting, Banks thanked her fans for their support. “I salute YOU, my amazing family of viewers: Thank you so so soooooo much for your support and love. Without you, there never would have been a Tyra Show. I really love you all.”
‘Twilight’ town TV show in the works
A reality TV series set in the town made famous by Twilight is in the works.
Reality TV producers are eying a programme set in Forks, WA, a US town that now dubs itself “the home of Twilight”.
According to WENN, casting is under way for a series about the daily lives of the area’s residents.
“Obviously we won’t be out on the ocean or dealing with that kind of danger, but the idea is to show what life here is really like,” said producer Zig Gauthier.
He added that the project is not looking to spotlight any possible claims of supernatural activity from locals.
Gauthier said: “We want people who have a true connection to the community. We want to avoid people with outlandish claims.”
Jude Law: “Being a daddy is what counts”
Jude Law has claimed that being a father is the most important part of his life.
The Sherlock Holmes star has three children with his ex-wife Sadie Frost and recently became a father for the fourth time after model Samantha Burke gave birth to his daughter.
“Being a daddy is what counts,” Law told Parade. “I’ve been busy rehearsing that in real life for more than ten years. I used to sleep until noon but it’s not so bad to have to get up at 7 and give them breakfast.
“My daughter made me realise that if there’s anything that’s going to make a man of you, it’s having your will broken by a little girl.”
Scarlett Johansson’s New Year’s Pizza
Scarlett Johansson will spend New Year’s Eve eating pizza and watching ‘The Twilight Zone’.
The 25-year-old actress – who is married to actor Ryan Reynolds – will see in 2010 with a take away, champagne and a marathon viewing session of the cult show because of work commitments.
She said: “We’re both working on New Year’s Day anyway. So, we won’t do much. You know, pizza would be nice, a little champagne. Maybe watch the ‘Twilight Zone’ marathon. That’s always a favourite for me.”
The screen beauty is “over” big celebratory parties and much prefers a quiet night in these days.
She laughed: “Going from one party to the next and surfing to find the right thing, and being in a taxicab when the clock strikes – I’m so over that stuff. At the ripe old age of 25. I have the most fun when I’m surrounded by people I love in one place that’s comfortable and we can hear each other. You can play card games, watch movies, I’m happy.”
